Community networks: I need to meet with more of these:
- Congregation heads
- Social service agencies
Board development:
- The existing board absolutely must be on board – or get off.
- To keep pace with both attrition and the size of the board we need, I need to recruit a new board member every two weeks (!) Not sure that’s practical, but it’s what’s needed
- Then, we need specific skills: finance, fund development, just general leadership
Fund development: at this point, we’re in survival mode. I am not sure if our current model is a sustainable one.
Financial management: it needs to go from non-existent to:
- A real, realistic budget
- True financial oversight by the board
The other stuff will come along, I think, if I focus on these items.

My first class

was great – I was scared I’d feel like I was back in school and full of anxiety, but I actually found myself relaxing and enjoying myself. La professeur is lovely.
Can’t wait for next week!

is soooo happy it's a long weekend
This probably won’t happen. Even when I was in good shape, I wasn’t a runner. I can run pretty fast, just not for very long. :\

Rode to my class on Monday, and then into work on Wednesday.
Today, I had a meeting in town, so I did the bike/bus thing to the park-and-ride, and then zipped up to Lower Queen Anne. All that pedaling up to the Plateau has paid off. Even with a full pannier, I made it to the P/R in a sprightly 25 minutes.
After the meeting, I made a couple of stops. First, I dropped off my proxy card with the old personnel dept., who nagged me about not turning it in when I finished up in May. Then I stopped off at the Bicycle Alliance office, to turn in an auction item. Finally, I made a stop at Working Dog Cycles and bought a couple of spare tubes.
After all of that, it was a sparklingly clear and breezy ride home. Really gorgeous cycling weather. And you know? Because I now have a ‘burb to ‘burb commute, I really miss bikie culture. Riding in town just puts me in proximity with other cyclists, other people riding to make deliveries and get places. I do see a few other cyclists on my way to work, but it’s pretty rare. It’s much nicer to be where other people on bikes are.
Enough loafing – time to get some things done around here…!

Eat a snail
Actually very tasty — 42 seconds ago
I’m sure I’m not the only one who loves snails and they taste really good with garlic and olive oil. I also have lots of fun trying to pull them out of the shell.
I don’t know anyone who’s tried them and hated them.

Sell my house
Untitled — 6 minutes ago
I’ll start trying, really don’t know why I haven’t considered it before, I’ve been quite negative about the whole thing – I’ve had it for sale for over 2 years.
I used to visualise a parking spot each morning and it worked about 90% of the time, while everyone else from my office was going in circles looking for somewhere to park.
Ok, so time to start thinking positive!
